SLEX San Pedro exit set for opening; new toll system okayed

SAN PEDRO CITY, Laguna — The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), in coordination with the Department of Transportation (DOTr), the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), and San Miguel Infrastructure, successfully conducted the Site Acceptance Test (SAT) for the Toll Collection System (TCS) at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) San Pedro Northbound Toll Plaza, Lane X01.
This technical milestone paves the way for the opening of the highly anticipated San Pedro Northbound Exit, tentatively scheduled to open to the public on July 25, 2025.
The SAT ensures that all toll collection components — software, hardware, and system integration — are fully compliant with TRB’s safety, efficiency, and performance standards.
The project was earlier pushed and backed by Rep. Ann Matibag (1st District, Laguna).
“The people of San Pedro have waited long enough. This project is not just about infrastructure — it’s about access, progress, and respect for the daily struggles of our commuters,” Matibag said.
“I thank our national partners for responding to our calls and helping deliver this long-promised solution to our people.”
TRB also thanked DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon, DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, TRB Executive Director Atty. Jay Art Tugade, MATES, and San Miguel Corporation President Mr. Ramon S. Ang, along with the dedicated men and women of their agencies, for their commitment to completing this vital project.
The opening of the new San Pedro NB Exit is expected to reduce congestion, shorten travel times, and improve traffic flow in the growing CALABARZON corridor — a major win for both local residents and regional economic mobility.
Further announcements regarding toll rates, traffic advisories, and the formal inauguration ceremony will follow.
