MANILA, Philippines — San Juan City hosted yesterday the regional kickoff of a school-based health campaign, which aims to address child malnutrition and promote preventive health care.

The launching of “Eskwela Kalusugan: Bawat Bata Malusog sa NCR,” held at the Pinaglabanan Elementary School, was led by San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora and Department of Health-Metro Manila Center for Health Development regional director Lester Tan, alongside officials from the Department of Education.

The initiative, which is part of Nutrition Month celebration, targets Kindergarten and Grade 1 students. It offers medical consultations, dental checkups, immunization, nutrition screening and registration with the Philippine Health Insurance Corp.

The program supports the national goal of cutting child stunting rates from 27 percent to 13.5 percent.
