2 million benefited from OVP’s ‘libreng sakay’

MANILA, Philippines — More than two million passengers have benefited from the “libreng sakay” program of the Office of the Vice President, OVP spokesperson Ruth Castelo said yesterday.

As of June 30, the OVP had served 2,025,275 passengers.

“In Metro Manila, we have buses offering free rides from the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange to Monumento and from PITX to Naic, Cavite. We have two buses assigned in Quiapo going to Commonwealth and back,” she said.

Commuters can avail themselves of the free rides from 5 to 9 a.m. and from 5 to 9 p.m.

The OVP also offers free rides in Metro Cebu, Bacolod and Davao City. Castelo said the OVP spends up to P180,000 monthly for the operational expenses of one bus alone.
