Couple stabbed dead by son-in-law

ILOILO CITY , Philippines —  An elderly couple were allegedly stabbed dead by the husband of their deceased daughter in San Lorenzo, Guimaras on Tuesday.

The suspect, identified only as Raymond, was arrested at his parents’ house in nearby Barangay Montpiller in Buenavista town.

Reports said Raymond figured in a spat with his parents-in-law, Jose and Estelita, after he saw a pile of trash in the area where he parks his motorcycle.

Probers said Raymond suspected his in-laws of intentionally leaving the trash as they were angry at him.

However, Col. Rhea Santos, Guimaras police chief, expressed belief that the suspect was furious because his in-laws admonished him for bringing his girlfriend to the house that he and his deceased wife own.

Records showed the suspect’s wife died in 2024. They have three children.

Raymond’s eldest child reportedly witnessed the killing that occurred at the victims’ house in Barangay Aguilar.

The victims’ other daughter and her friend tried to stop the suspect, but they too were stabbed in the shoulders.

Relatives brought the victims to the Dr. Catalino Nava Provincial Hospital in Jordan town, where Jose and Estelita died while being treated.
