COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A soldier lost his arm while his son was killed when their motorcycle crashed into a pile of iron bars in Magpet, Cotabato on Thursday.

Pfc. Ronnie Bacag of the Army’s 39th Infantry Battalion and his son, Daveheart, were headed to Kidapawan City when they figured in the accident.

Probers said the road was slippery due to a heavy downpour earlier in the day.

Barangay officials said Bacag’s severed left arm was found some two meters away from where he landed after he was thrown off from the motorcycle.

Bacag’s son reportedly died at the scene of the accident due to severe head and body injuries. Bacag was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
