‘Honeylet can sell her share in Duterte’s house, but...’

MANILA, Philippines — The common-law wife of Rodrigo Duterte may sell her share of their house in Davao City, but not that of the former president, according to Vice President Sara Duterte.
The Vice President said she expects Honeylet Avanceña to discuss the matter with her upon Avanceña’s arrival in The Hague to relieve her in taking care of the former president.
“My opinion as a lawyer (is that) the property was acquired when Honeylet and PRRD were living-in, and so the status is co-ownership. She can sell her share but not the share of PRRD,” the Vice President said, referring to her father. “It will depend on their decision, on what to do with the house.”
Questions regarding the house, located in Doña Luisa Village, surfaced when Avanceña reportedly put up a “for sale” sign on the property.
“I am only worried where president Duterte would reside when he returns to Davao City. That’s one of my concerns,” the Vice President said, noting there is no chance for her father and mother, Elizabeth Zimmerman, to reconcile.
Zimmerman earlier stayed in The Hague to take care of her former husband.
“Mama said it is OK for girlfriends to visit,” the Vice President said.
