Mall guard lauded for honesty
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A security guard has been commended for returning a diamond-studded gold bracelet to its owner who lost the item while shopping in a mall in this city.
Francisco Dialogo, 29, turned over the bracelet to the mall’s customer relations service center right after he found the item on Sunday.
Dialogo said he was manning the entrance on the third level of the mall when he spotted the bracelet, whose owner is an heir of a prominent family from a nearby province.
The owner, whose identity was withheld, told mall officials that she retraced her steps in all the places she had been to during the day, but failed to find the bracelet.
“She had lost hope of finding the bracelet until she went to the customer relations service. She could not contain her joy upon learning that the item had been turned over to the CRS,” mall manager Aileen Ann Villa-Enriquez said.
Dialogo and CRS manager Elmer Gregorio handed over the bracelet to the owner.
Dialogo, who has been assigned at the mall for five years, said he never thought of keeping the precious item to himself even as he is going through difficult times.
“I may be poor, but I was taught not to take things that do not belong to me,” he said.
