MANILA, Philippines — The repair of six lighthouses in Romblon has increased to 94 percent the operational efficiency of the Philippine Coast Guard’s navigational aids in Southern Tagalog.

The PCG-District Southern Tagalog’s safety services unit said its members repaired the lighthouse stations in Calatong Hills, Corcuera, Malbog, Gorda, Calabogo Point and Romblon Jetty from June 30 to July 4.

The PCG team installed and replaced essential components of the lighthouses to illuminate the shorelines and reinforce navigational safety across Southern Tagalog.

Lighthouses help fishermen find their way back to the shore, especially at night or when visibility is poor,.

“With the successful repair, the operational efficiency of light stations in the region has now increased to 94.06 percent,” the PCG-District Southern Tagalog said.

The PCG unit gave assurance that its navigational aids remain effective, visible and reliable to ensure safe vessel movement and maritime domain awareness.
