Teves wants hearings deferred

MANILA, Philippines — Still recovering from complications after his appendectomy, expelled Negros Oriental lawmaker Arnolfo Teves Jr. is seeking to postpone court hearings for two weeks.
Teves’ condition has “improved slightly,” his lawyer Ferdinand Topacio said.
Teves is on soft food diet after being tube-fed for almost four days, Topacio said.
“Barring any unforeseen medical events, it is expected that his recovery will continue in the coming days,” Topacio said. “In the meantime, we are asking the courts to defer all previously scheduled hearings to dates starting two weeks henceforth.”
Teves is facing charges over the assassination of Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo and nine others in March 2023.
