MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-five days after the midterm polls, the National Board of Canvassers yesterday proclaimed the Bagong Henerasyon (BH) party-list as a winner in the May 12 elections.

The board issued the certificate of proclamation to BH party-list and its first nominee, Roberto Gerard Nazal.

Commission on Elections Chairman George Garcia said BH chose not to hold a proclamation ceremony, even after the Comelec dismissed the disqualification case filed against the group.

The Comelec issued a certificate of finality and an entry of judgment in favor of BH party-list, which means the decision to junk the disqualification case became final and executory.

Citing the failure of petitioner Russel Geronimo to comply with mandatory requirements, the Comelec First Division dismissed the petition to disqualify BH from the elections.

The Comelec en banc affirmed the decision, insisting on the importance of complying with mandatory requirements set in its rules.

BH party-list is entitled to one seat after it garnered 319,803 votes.
