Cops’ slay suspect killed in ‘shootout’

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines —  A suspect in the killing of two members of the Bulacan police was killed in an alleged shootout in Baggao, Cagayan on Wednesday.

The suspect, identified as Edison Bayumbon, reportedly shot dead Sgts. Dennis Cudiamat and Gian George dela Cruz of the Bocaue police during an anti-narcotics operation on March 8.

Bayumbon carries a P2.2-million bounty on his head, according to a report received by Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, Central Luzon police director.

The report, sent by the Cagayan police, said that lawmen were about to serve an arrest warrant when Bayumbon allegedly drew his gun, triggering a shootout.

Police recovered from the fatality a Glock pistol believed to belong to one of the slain Bocaue policemen.
