MANILA, Philippines — Police have arrested five people in Makati for allegedly injecting a French tourist with a drug before stealing P96,000 from him.

The suspects’ trick, according to Makati police chief Col. Jean dela Torre, was to inject victims with Ativan inside a taxi.

Police said the suspects approached the Frenchman while he was entering a restaurant along Makati Avenue on Sunday.

After eating lunch, the suspects suggested touring the victim around Intramuros in Manila.

The victim ended up in a taxi with his cash and iPhone missing.
