2 excursionists drown in South Cotabato flash flood

COTABATO CITY — Two excursionists drowned in a flash flood while swimming in a river near a scenic waterfall in Barangay Cacub, Koronadal City, on Monday, May 19.

Personnel of the Koronadal City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office on Monday afternoon  found the lifeless 28-year-old online trading delivery rider Christian Pederiso and his girlfriend, Jessa Mae Huesca, 24, a school teacher, after an extensive search operation.

City officials and investigators from the Koronadal City Police Office told reporters on Tuesday that Pederiso and Huesca were swept downstream by the raging floodwaters while swimming in a river near the Millennium Falls in Barangay Cacub.

Pederiso and Huesca, both residents of Barangay Paraiso in Koronadal City, rode a motorcycle on their way to the Millennium Falls in Sitio Dam Site in Barangay Cacub, according to their relatives.

Emergency responders had immediately turned over their remains to their respective families.
