Man, son nabbed for guns, explosives

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines —  A man and his son were arrested in a raid that resulted in the seizure of several firearms and explosives in Victorias City, Negros Occidental yesterday.

The raid on the house of the suspects – identified as Ricardo Pedroso, 57, and his son Marvin, 27 – was based on a warrant issued by Judge Dyna Doll Chiongson-Trocio of the Silay Regional Trial Court Branch 40.

Authorities said the raiding team, composed of members of the Victorias City police and Special Action Force troopers, seized a shotgun, grenade, three handguns, ammunition and a grenade launcher  from the house of the suspects.

During the raid, which was conducted at around 5:30 a.m., the younger Pedroso arrived at the scene allegedly armed with a revolver, prompting the police to arrest him.

The suspects are detained at the city police detention cell.
