NBI cited in Philippines exit from FATF gray list

MANILA, Philippines — President Marcos on Monday recognized the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) for its role in helping the country exit the money laundering gray list of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
NBI Director Jaime Santiago received a commendation award from the Office of the President.
The law enforcement agency also received a plaque of recognition for its contribution to strengthening the country’s financial safeguards.
Nine NBI personnel obtained certificates of recognition for their efforts in enforcing anti-money laundering and counterterrorism financing policies.
“The work is not yet finished,” Marcos said at the ceremony held by the Presidential and National Anti-Money Laundering, Counter-Terrorism Financing and Counter-Proliferation Financing Coordinating Committee.
The FATF announced the Philippines’ exit from the gray list in February.
