ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A crocodile facility in Siay town in Zamboanga Sibugay was ordered closed by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) following an incident of animal attack early this week.

Arturo Fadriquela, chief of the DENR-Zamboanga peninsula, issued the order several days after a 10-foot saltwater crocodile bit a man who entered the reptile’s enclosure in Barangay Bato on Monday.

The victim, identified only as Eric, suffered injuries in the right knee.

The crocodile was secured in a controlled section of the enclosure.

Members of the city environment and natural resources office and barangay officials were directed to monitor and guard the site to ensure public safety.
