Croc bites curious intruder in Zamboanga Sibugay

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A 10-foot-long crocodile bit and seriously injured a man who, out of curiosity, jumped into its enclosure in Siay town, Zamboanga Sibugay yesterday.

According to a Siay police report, the man jumped into the fenced pond in Sitio Laih, Barangay Bato believing that the reptile soaking in the water was not for real.

However, the crocodile bit and held onto the man’s right knee for minutes, occasionally rolling over in an attempt to tear it before the eyes of dozens of horrified onlookers, the report said.

Rescue volunteers from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office pulled the man to safety and treated him for severe cuts before rushing him to a nearby hospital.
