Couple killed over land dispute in Rizal

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A husband and wife, heading to their son’s wedding proposal, were killed by two men on a motorcycle in Barangay May Iba in Teresa, Rizal on Saturday.

Maj. Edzel Macasero, Teresa police chief, said the couple, identified by the aliases Rogelio and Mercedita, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds.

Macasero said the couple has been receiving death threats and had it noted at the barangay hall, where a complaint was also filed.

Investigators are eyeing land dispute as motive. They found that the motorcycle-riding men were spotted near the couple’s house in Antipolo City minutes before the attack.
