MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will conduct 24-hour road repairs in Metro Manila this Holy Week, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority announced yesterday.

According to the MMDA, the road works will begin at 11 p.m. on April 16 until 5 a.m. on April 21.

In Quezon City, road works will affect several areas, including Quirino Highway, from Colegio de Sta. Teresa de Avila to Primerose; A. Bonifacio Avenue, from 11th Avenue to C-3; Blumentritt to Mauban; G. Araneta Avenue, from Del Monte Avenue to N.S. Amoranto; Scout Alcaraz street, from A. Bonifacio Avenue to Sto. Domingo, and Payatas Road.

The streets of Kapatiran, Bansalangin, Yakal and Bistek Ville will also be affected by road repairs.

Additional affected areas include Batasan Road, from Kalinisan street to Kaunlaran; Congressional Avenue Extension, between J.L. Escoda and Tandang Sora Avenue, as well as portions of Commonwealth Avenue, including areas fronting Microtel, General Malvar Hospital, Puregold and University Avenue.

Road works will also take place along E. Rodriguez Avenue and Green Meadows Avenue.

The MMDA said Katipunan Avenue and Fairview Avenue would also undergo repairs.

Both the southbound and northbound directions of Mindanao Avenue underpass will be closed to motorists.

In Makati, the northbound portion of Magallanes flyover along EDSA will be closed, affecting both upper and lower levels.

In Pasig City, the Ortigas flyover and C-5 Interchange will be closed to vehicles.

The MMDA said motorists should take service roads or proceed straight through the Ortigas flyover to Lanuza intersection and turn left to J. Vargas to reach their destination.

The MMDA advised motorists to avoid the affected roads and use alternative routes, including the designated Mabuhay Lanes.

Ferry rides suspended

Meanwhile, the Pasig River ferry service will be suspended during Holy Week, according to the MMDA.

Ferry operations will be halted from April 17 to April 19.

Regular operations will resume on April 21, the MMDA said.
