MANILA, Philippines — An anti-narcotics operation in Parañaque City ended in a shootout that left a suspected drug dealer dead and four agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) wounded on Wednesday.

The PDEA said 4.2 kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P28.56 million were seized in the operation, which occurred in Barangay San Antonio at around 5 p.m.

Four alleged shabu dealers whom probers identified only as Lala, Allan, Binny and Sady met with PDEA agents posing as drug buyers.

While the drug transaction was ongoing, Sady allegedly pulled out a .45-caliber handgun after sensing that they were dealing with police.

Sady was killed in what police said was a shootout. The three other suspects were arrested.

The wounded PDEA officers were brought to a hospital for treatment.

The PDEA agents also seized the suspects’ cell phones, identification cards and drug paraphernalia.

Cases of drug trafficking are being readied against the suspects.

Meanwhile, a suspected member of a crime ring was nabbed after he was caught with seven grams of shabu worth P47,600 in Quezon City on Wednesday night.

Richard Gestopa, 55, was apprehended in Barangay Damayang Lagi.

Quezon City police director Brig. Gen. Melecio Buslig Jr. said lawmen purchased P1,500 worth of shabu from Gestopa, who was under surveillance for allegedly pushing drugs.

“Our efforts to combat illegal drugs and dismantle criminal rings remain steadfast,” Buslig said.
