Western Visayas police forms Boracay anti-vice unit
ILOILO CITY, Philippines — The Western Visayas police has created a unit that will go after criminals on Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan.
The Boracay anti-vice unit was launched on Monday at Camp Pastor Martelino in Barangay New Buswang in Kalibo.
Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, Western Visayas police director, led the launch, which was attended by officials and members of the regional police as well as of the Aklan and Malay police stations.
The 22-member anti-vice unit will be led by Capt. Larry John Vidal.
Wanky said the unit will maintain safety and security on the island.
He said the creation of the Boracay anti-vice unit was due to the recent murder of a Slovak tourist and the expected influx of visitors during the Holy Week and summer season.
