Magalong receives threats after exposé

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — After denouncing alleged corruption involving billions of pesos in government social amelioration funds, Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong said he received threats to his life.
Magalong said the threat came after he declared that the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2025 was intended to be used as an “election fund.”
He said several lawmakers agreed among themselves to change the bicameral committee report on the National Expenditure Program.
Magalong said he asked former military intelligence officer Allen Capuyan to help him verify the threat against him.
He said Capuyan, former chief of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict and of the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, confirmed that the threat against him is real.
Magalong, former chief of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, said he is not scared of any threat as he is used to facing battles.
He, however, said he is worried for the safety of his family.
Malacañang has dared Magalong to show proof that the GAA 2025 was meant to be used in the May 12 elections.
