MANILA, Philippines — Twenty-four people were rescued after a motorized boat developed engine trouble as it was sailing in the waters off Romblon on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Coast Guard.

The PCG-Romblon said it conducted a rescue operation after receiving reports that the M/B El Carmen's engine malfunctioned.

Boat owner Eric Macaya informed the PCG-Romblon that the El Carmen was sailing in the waters off Barangay Lonos in Romblon town when the incident occurred.

Responding PCG men said that crewmembers of the El Carmen dropped the anchor to prevent the boat from drifting.

All passengers and crewmembers were found in good physical condition.

The PCG towed the boat toward Barangay 1 where the passengers disembarked and were given medical attention.
