Malate drag race leaves cop hurt

MANILA, Philippines — A patrolman has been injured after trying to arrest drag racing drivers on Tuesday in Malate, Manila.

Pat. Rowell Christian Hernandez had tried to apprehend one of two racers along Roxas Boulevard.

The suspect ran over Hernandez with his motorcycle.

Police arrested the suspect after he reportedly slipped and crashed on the pavement.

Four other suspects were apprehended.

Bets of up to P100,000 were reportedly placed for the drag race.

Charges of frustrated murder, serious resistance and disobedience to a person of authority as well as alarm and scandal were filed against the suspects.
