MANILA, Philippines — To better serve overseas Filipino workers (OFWs), the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) plans to set up more offices abroad.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac said the department intends to open at least six more Migrant Workers Offices (MWOs).

“We opened three new ones in 2024 – in Bangkok, in Vienna and in Budapest, Hungary. So we plan to open at least six, and it can go up to eight and even 10 if the budget allows,” Cacdac said at a recent public briefing.

Cacdac said there are 41 MWOs globally at this time.

MWOs are tasked to protect OFWs and promote their welfare.

He previously reported that the DMW provided support and assistance to around 135,000 OFWs from the department’s AKSYON Fund.
