Denmark embassy honors Gaita Fores

MANILA, Philippines — The embassy of Denmark in Manila yesterday honored renowned chef Margarita Fores, who passed away on Tuesday. She was 65.
Fores was found unresponsive in her Upper House hotel room in Hong Kong after missing a lunch meeting.
“In her decades-long culinary career, chef Fores has always been a champion of Filipino cuisine, bringing the Philippine grain adlai to the global stage at the World Food Summit at the Danish National Parliament in Copenhagen in 2017,” the embassy said in a social media post.
“May her passion for celebrating Filipino cultural heritage and commitment to food security be remembered by the countless Filipinos she has inspired with her culinary contributions,” the embassy added.
Fores, named Asia’s Best Female Chef in 2016, was a pioneering figure in gastronomy. She got her culinary training in Italy, but also championed Filipino cuisine.
