CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Firearms stolen from a police barracks in San Pablo, Laguna on Sunday have been recovered in Bicol.
Four police officers – a senior master sergeant, a staff sergeant and two patrolmen – were relieved from their posts due to the incident. Administrative charges will be filed against them.
A police official who refused to be identified said the firearms have been returned to the San Pablo police.
He said intensive intelligence gathering led a police tracker team to the location of the firearms and the suspect.
“We received information that a man was looking for buyer of guns in Camarines Sur. The Laguna police immediately coordinated with the Camarines Sur police, which resulted in the recovery of the firearms,” the official told The STAR.
Reports said a thief took the firearms as police officers were busy setting up a checkpoint along Maharlika Highway in Barangay San Antonio.
