Girl, 15, found dead in Quezon

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A 15-year-old girl was found dead in Mulanay, Quezon on Friday.

The victim, who bore a stab wound in the neck, was found at around 4:30 p.m. in a forested area in Barangay Anonang, according to Maj. Joseph Ian Java, chief of the Mulanay police.

A witness told police he saw the suspect, identified only as Marcelo, chased the victim in Sitio Campalacio.

The witness sought the help of village officials, who proceeded to the area and found the victim already dead.

Probers expressed belief Marcelo tried to molest the girl, but she resisted, prompting the suspect to stab her.

A manhunt was launched for the suspect, according to Col. Ruben Lacuesta, Quezon police director.
