COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Three women died while seven others were injured when their vehicle crashed into a metal railing in Matalam, Cotabato on Wednesday.

The fatalities, identified as Almira and Michelle, both surnamed Pillado, and Liza Rulida, died at the scene of the accident that occurred in Barangay Central Malamote, according to Col. Gilbert Tuzon, Cotabato police director.

The names of the injured victims, including five minors, were not immediately available.

Tuzon said the fatalities and the injured victims were relatives.

The victims were on their way to a family gathering in President Roxas town when their multicab developed engine trouble, causing the driver to lose control of the wheel.

Witnesses said the impact threw some passengers off the vehicle.
