MMDA closes some roads for MMFF ‘Parade of Stars’
MANILA, Philippines — Some roads along the 12-kilometer route of the 50th edition of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) will be closed to vehicles on Dec. 21, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced.
The float parade or motorcade will start at 2 p.m. at the Kartilya ng Katipunan Shrine beside the Manila city hall, an MMDA advisory reads.
It will traverse portions of Natividad Lopez Street, P. Burgos Avenue, Jones Bridge, Quintin Paredes Street, Reina Regente Street, Recto Avenue, Abad Santos Avenue, Tayuman Street, Lacson Avenue, España Boulevard, Nicanor Reyes Street, back to Recto Avenue, Legarda Street, P. Casal Street, Ayala Boulevard, Taft Avenue, T. M. Kalaw Avenue, Roxas Boulevard, back to P. Burgos Avenue, back to Jones Bridge and then Magallanes Drive.
After meeting with fans along the 12-kilometer route, the floats will stop at the gutted Manila Central Post Office.
The MMDA will implement road closures and a stop-and-go scheme at the identified roads starting at noon of Dec. 21. It advised motorists to use alternate routes during the parade.
The 50th MMFF will feature films such as “And the Breadwinner Is…,” “Green Bones,” “The Kingdom,” “My Future You,” “Uninvited,” “Hold Me Close,” “Espantaho,” “Isang Himala,” “Topakk” and “Strenge Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital.”
