MANILA, Philippines — West zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. is on track to complete its P10.5-billion wastewater treatment facility in 2025, with the project currently at 83 percent progress rate.

Located in Maypajo, Caloocan, the CAMANA Water Reclamation Facility is designed to improve sewerage services in South Caloocan, Malabon and Navotas by treating up to 205 million liters of wastewater per day.

Once operational, the facility is expected to benefit around 1.2 million Maynilad customers, significantly contributing to the cleanup efforts in Manila Bay.

“This project is part of our commitment to investing in infrastructure that expands sewer coverage and creates cleaner and healthier communities,” Maynilad president and chief executive officer Ramoncito Fernandez said.

To complement the facility, Maynilad is also putting up 77 kilometers of sewer pipelines to collect wastewater from households and businesses across the three cities and transport it to the treatment plant.

The CAMANA project, which is poised to become Maynilad’s largest wastewater treatment facility, forms part of the company’s broader initiative to boost its wastewater management capacity.

To date, Maynilad operates 23 wastewater treatment facilities with a total capacity of about 684 million liters of wastewater daily.

“Maynilad remains steadfast in its mission to address environmental challenges and support sustainable urban development through its continued investments in wastewater infrastructure,” the company said.

Maynilad is the country’s largest private water concessionaire in terms of customer base.

It provides water service to the west zone of the Greater Manila Area, including Manila, Quezon City, Makati, Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon as well as the nearby cities and towns in Cavite.
