P5.7 million shabu seized in Zamboanga

ZAMBOANGA CITY , Philippines —  Shabu with an estimated street value of P5.7 million was seized in a sting that also resulted in the arrest of two suspects in this city on Sunday night.

The suspects, identified as Nasser Ibrahim Usman, 63, and Frazel Saluay Sahibeini, 48, were on the drug watchlist of the police, according to the Zamboanga peninsula police drug enforcement unit.

Lt. Col. Helen Galvez, spokesperson for the regional police, said a joint team composed of agents of the regional police drug enforcement unit and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency collared the suspects at past 7 p.m. in Barangay Sta. Barbara.

Galvez said the team seized from the the suspects 17 plastic sachets each containing 50 grams of suspected shabu and marked money.

The suspects claimed they were hired to deliver the package in exchange for P30,000.

Police said the suspects were placed under surveillance before the sting was carried out.
