IlOILO CITY, Philippines — A municipal official in Aklan and her partner were found dead in a car in Buruanga town on Monday.
Leda Cenon, chief of the Buruanga municipal government operations office, and Richan Bartolome, chief of the town’s auxiliary police, bore gunshots to their chests, police said.
The victims were found in Cenon’s Toyota Wigo parked along the road in Barangay Panilongan.
Village watchmen alerted the police after noting the car had been in the area from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
They said they decided to check the car and saw Bartolome and Cenon’s body in the back passenger and driver’s seats, respectively.
Probers said they found a revolver near Bartolome’s body.
Col. Victorino Romanillos, Aklan police director, said a crime of passion could be behind the death of the victims.
Romanillos said it was possible that one of the victims shot the other before turning the gun on her or himself.
He said probers have yet to dig deeper into the incident.
