MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education has warned the public against fake online posts using the DepEd’s logo to deceive students needing cash assistance.

The public should not give their personal data and school documents to scammers, the DepEd said.

Fake online posts carrying the agency’s logo offer P8,000 in cash aid for tuition, allowances and uniforms of college, secondary and elementary school students.

Applicants are required to submit their school records.

“The DepEd reminds everyone to remain vigilant against misinformation,” the agency said.

Misleading and suspicious information about basic education can be reported through depedactioncenter@deped.gov.ph.

Last week, the Commission on Higher Education slammed criminals using its logo to defraud students and parents, promising cash assistance.

The DepEd has been used in similar fraudulent schemes on social media in the past.
