Couple slain in Maguindanao del Sur
COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Motorcycle-riding men shot dead a couple engaged in moneylending in Montawal, Maguindanao del Sur on Saturday afternoon.
Soliven Salakob and his wife, Sempak, died at the scene of the incident that occurred in Barangay Pagagawan.
Reports said the victims were on a motorcycle on their way to Kidapawan when they were pulled over by the suspects at gunpoint.
The suspects took the victims’ bags containing their collections before killing them.
Relatives expressed belief the killing was related to the nature of business of the victims.
In Cotabato, a man was killed while four others were wounded when a drunk barangay official fired shots at a food establishment in Bagontapay in M’lang town.
Romnick Reyes died at the scene of the incident while Army members Gilbert Dasig and Rollen Jay Duron as well as civilians Jomer Lumugda and Rosenda Macailing were taken to a hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.
Police withheld the identity of the suspect pending investigation.
