Man slain in Zamboanga City gun attack

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Motorcycle-riding assailants shot dead a man and wounded his companion in this city on Saturday afternoon.

Ariel Bantague, 30, died at the scene of the incident that occurred in Barangay Cawit at past 1 p.m. His companion, Jonathan Narciso, 29, was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

Investigation showed the victims were on a motorcycle when they were attacked by the suspects who had been tailing them.

Responding police officers recovered bullet shells at the scene of the shooting, according to Col. Kimberly Molitas, Zamboanga City police chief.

Probers have yet to review footage of closed-circuit television cameras installed in the area to identify the suspects.
