TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines — Minimum wage earners in Cagayan Valley will get an additional P30 increase in daily pay effective Oct. 17, based on a new order of the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) in Region 2.
Jesus Elpidio Atal Jr., Department of Labor and Employment regional director, said about 64,000 workers in the private sector will now get P480 in daily pay, from the previous P450.
The RTWPB also mandated a raise in the pay of workers in the non-agriculture sector to P450 per day and P460 for those in the agriculture industry.
The new wage order also covered 49,165 household workers in the region, raising their monthly salary from P5,500 to P6,000.
“From the P100 proposed wage increase, we settled at P30, which is reasonable enough for the workers and employers after we analyze the inflation rate and price increases in the region,” Atal said.
