2 shot dead in Quezon

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two men were shot dead by unidentified assailants in Sariaya, Quezon on Saturday night.

Bernardo Maranan and his companion, June Regalado, died from gunshots to the head and body, according to Lt. Col. Carlo Caceres, Sariaya police chief.

Witnesses said the victims were at a waiting shed in Barangay Lutucan when motorcycle-riding men shot them.

Reports said Maranan had just been released from detention following a plea bargain for a drug case.

Probers are eyeing drugs as the motive for the killing.
