Quake shakes Catanduanes
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 6.1 earthquake struck off the coast of Catanduanes yesterday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said the quake occurred at 5:19 a.m. and its epicenter was located 81 kilometers northeast of Bagamanoc.
The temblor was not expected to cause damage to property, but it may generate aftershocks.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Virac town.
Intensity 3 was felt in Cabusao, Gainza, Gartchitorena, Goa, Lagonoy and Ragay in Camarines Sur as well as in Laoang, Mondragon, Palapag, Pambujan and San Roque in Northern Samar.
Intensity 2 was recorded in Basud, Paracale, San Vicente and Sipocot in Camarines Norte as well as in Bombon, Calabanga, Camaligan, Canaman, Iriga, Magarao, Nabua, Ocampo, Pili, Tigaon, Tinambac, San Jose and Siruma in Camarines Sur.
