MANILA, Philippines — Guarding the Philippines’ borders and coastline should involve other state agencies, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said yesterday.
“We want to have a one-stop shop in terms of monitoring so that all agencies involved in protecting the coastline are looking at the same direction and goals,” BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said.
A centralized intelligence information system could also be established, Sandoval said.
The BI came up with the proposal after seven undocumented Chinese workers were apprehended on a ship in Navotas on Sept. 15.
