Municipal election officer, wife killed in Palawan

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — The election officer of Agutaya town in Palawan and his wife were found dead inside their house in Barangay Cambian yesterday.

Probers found the bloodied bodies of election officer Emmanuel Gacot and his wife Frenie, owner of the Agutaya branch of Palawan Pawnshop, at around 8:30 a.m.

Police are considering robbery as a motive for the killing. They are also looking for witnesses and footages recorded on close-circuit television.

Major Ric Ramos, Palawan police spokesman, said a special investigation team was formed to handle the case.

“We are exhausting all possible means to locate, identify and arrest the suspects,” Ramos said in his text message.
