MMDA enforcer punched during Pasay road clearing

Emerson Pagala, 62, a member of the MMDA’s Special Operations Group- Strike Force, was towing a sedan, which was illegally parked along F.B. Harrison Avenue in Barangay 26, when a man recorded the operation on his mobile phone.

MANILA, Philippines — A traffic enforcer of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) was punched during a road clearing operation in Pasay City on Wednesday.

Emerson Pagala, 62, a member of the MMDA’s Special Operations Group- Strike Force, was towing a sedan, which was illegally parked along F.B. Harrison Avenue in Barangay 26, when a man recorded the operation on his mobile phone.

This prompted Pagala to shove the man.

Irked, the man aimed his cell phone close to Pagala’s face.

Juver Solsona Abalos, 49, reportedly punched Pagala thrice. He was arrested after the incident.

Pagala suffered a broken tooth, the MMDA said.

A sachet of shabu was allegedly found in Abalos’ pocket.

Following the incident, the MMDA is considering tapping the assistance of police during road clearing operations.
