MANILA, Philippines — A four-year-old boy died when a motorized boat capsized in the waters off Puerto Princesa, Palawan on Saturday.

The body of Kaidel Juhan was recovered the following day, according to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).

Juhan was with his parents and brother when the incident occurred near Barangay Tugburos.

The boat reportedly developed engine trouble after it was battered by strong winds and big waves.

Juhan was swept away by the waves, while his parents and brother managed to swim to the shore.

Members of the PCG sub-station Honda Bay searched for the boy, but had to terminate the operation immediately due to bad weather.

A joint team from the PCG, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection and city disaster risk reduction and management office found the boy floating near Cowrie Island or about 1.2 nautical miles from where the incident happened.
