MANILA, Philippines — A police officer and his wife were gunned down by an unidentified assailant in Muntinlupa before dawn yesterday.
The fatalities were identified as Capt. Aminoden Mangonday, 40, a member of the Muntinlupa police, and his wife Mary Grace, 40.
In a report, the Southern Police District said the incident happened at the couple’s house in Barangay Alabang at around 1:10 a.m.
Investigation showed that Mangonday was sleeping in the living room when the suspect broke into the house and fired at the victim.
He died from a gunshot to the head.
The policeman’s wife, who was in the bedroom, was also shot dead by the suspect.
The gunman did not spare the couple’s 12-year-old daughter who was shot in the face.
The teenager was brought to a hospital where she remains under observation.
In a Facebook post, Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon condemned the killings.
“This act of violence against a law enforcer and his family should be investigated thoroughly, leaving no stone unturned to find the perpetrator and mastermind and prosecute them,” Biazon said.
