MANILA, Philippines — The crime volume in Quezon City this year decreased by at least 21 percent, police reported yesterday.

Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, said 1,060 crime incidents were recorded from January to July 2024.

The figure is lower by 21.48 percent compared to 1,350 crimes documented in the same period last year.

The eight focus crimes, which the police are monitoring to determine the peace and order situation in their areas of jurisdiction, are murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, theft, robbery, car theft and motorcycle theft.

Maranan said the QCPD registered the highest decrease in crimes among the five police districts in Metro Manila.

He cited police units for maintaining peace and security in Quezon City, saying it is a collective effort towards the goal of a safe and peaceful city.
