3 die in Misamis road mishap

NAAWAN, Misamis Oriental, Philippines — Three people died while 48 others were injured in a collision involving a bus and a van in this town at dawn yesterday.

The fatalities, two of whom were identified as Anthony Reyes and Jasper Haim, were declared dead on arrival at the Misamis Oriental Provincial Hospital.

Some of the injured passengers were taken to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center in Cagayan de Oro for treatment.

Investigation showed the bus was headed to Dipolog City from Cagayan de Oro when it collided with the van in Barangay Maputi at around 1:38 a.m.

Probers have yet to determine the cause of the collision.

Police said the number of fatalities could rise due to the severity of the injuries of some of the victims.
