MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte yesterday led the city’s commemoration of the 146th birth anniversary of former president Manuel Quezon.
Belmonte, Vice Mayor Gian Sotto and other local government officials joined members of the Quezon family during the annual Quezon Day rites at the Quezon Memorial Circle.
“Thank you for your loyalty, courage and love for our country. May former president Quezon be an inspiration to each of us to remain faithful to our duties as Filipinos and as public servants,” Belmonte said.
Commission on Human Rights chairman Richard Palpal-latoc, who served as the guest of honor, urged Filipinos to always keep in mind Quezon’s patriotism and love for the country.
Among those who attended the event were the former president’s grandson, Emilio Quezon-Avanceña, National Historical Commission of the Philippines deputy executive director and officer-in-charge Alvin Alcid and 1st District Rep. Arjo Atayde.
