September 2 declared holiday in Baguio

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Malacañang has declared Sept. 2 as a special non-working day in Baguio to mark the city’s 115th Charter Anniversary.

Proclamation 641 signed on July 29 by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin by the authority of President Marcos gave Baguio residents an opportunity to participate in and enjoy the activities lined up for the ocassion.

Earlier, Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong asked Malacañang to declare Sept. 2, which falls on a Monday, as a special non-working day in the city, in lieu of Sept. 1, a Sunday, which is the actual day of the charter anniversary.

Republic Act  6710 declared every Sept. 1 of each year as Baguio Charter Day and a special non-working day to commemorate the occasion.

However, this year’s charter anniversary falls on a Sunday, prompting the office of the mayor to declare the following day a non-working holiday.
