2 dead in Zamboanga del Norte vehicular mishap

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Two people died while five others were injured when a pick-up truck rammed three motorcycles in Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte yesterday morning.

The fatalities were two of three motorcycle drivers who were hit by the truck driven by Henneth Jay Pailaga, according to Lt. Col. Edwin Verzon, chief of the Pagadian City police.

One of the fatalities was identified as Ronel Lansangon. The name of the other victim, who was driving a plateless motorcycle, was not immediately available.

Verzon said five motorcycle riders – Christian Alisob, Eliza Mae Dumulog, Rodanie Noot, Daniela Tambula and Arnulfo Ula – were seriously injured in the accident that occurred in Barangay Punta.

Witnesses said the truck swerved, causing it to hit the motorcycles coming from the opposite direction.
