Cop slain in General Santos City gun attack

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Motorcycle-riding assailants shot dead a policeman in General Santos City before dawn yesterday.

Pat. Jobert Moremonte died at the scene of the incident that occurred in Barangay Baluan.

Investigation showed the assailants could have been tailing Moremonte, who was also on a motorcycle.

The assailants sped away after the attack.

Moremonte’s relatives and friends expressed belief that the victim could have known his assailants.

They said Moremonte had figured in a spat with a member of another law enforcement agency.
